Another busy year at Hobsonville Point
Work at Hobsonville Point north-west of Auckland has progressed apace this year.
Construkt has been engaged by Universal Homes to provide full architectural services – including preliminary design, developed design and construction documentation – for 168 sites across the Buckley and Catalina precincts. To date, 104 homes are either under construction or complete, 36 sites have resource consent and are preparing to lodge building consents, and 28 sites will lodge resource consents this month.
“We’ve made steady progress despite the intense pressure on the building industry for skills, resources and materials,” says Construkt architect Karl Barker.
Mr Barker says that creating the wide pallet of homes for this project has been a truly satisfying process for the Construkt team.
“In line with Hobsonville Point’s overall vision, homes in the Buckley and Catalina precincts offer a range of styles to suit varying budgets and lifestyles,” he says.
Homes along the main road present a solid look and feel with a succession of brick and concrete terraced homes. Away from the main thoroughfare is a medium-density mix of standalone and duplex houses featuring brick and weatherboard materials.
Construkt’s involvement at Hobsonville Point goes back to 2008. Construkt played a central role in masterplanning the community of 3,000 homes on 167ha and its commitment has continued to evolve.
Today, the practice has designed close to 350 houses at Hobsonville Point for Universal Homes.
