Buckley Precinct Superlot 29
Universal Homes appointed Construkt to design 39 homes at Hobsonville Point in Auckland’s upper harbour.
Located at a prominent and central position of the Buckley Precinct on the southern side of Hobsonville Point Road, the development consists of a mix of terraced homes and garden apartments ranging from single-bedroom dwellings to three-storey, six-bedroom homes. House sizes range from 62 to 305sqm on sections up to 290sqm.
In keeping with the overall vision for Hobsonville Point, the variety of designs caters to differing budgets and lifestyles, including a portion developed specifically for affordable homes.
The design strategy is to include an ‘anchor’ building on the corner of Hobsonville Point Road and Squadron Drive. Further, to maintain pedestrian orientated and attractive street frontages, the design has utilised a rear-access laneway, which exhibits a very similar character of a ‘home zone’, for all units.
In addition to the rhythmic design of heights and bulks, the individuality of each home is further expressed by a careful selection of colours and materials, this includes painted weatherboards, cedar, textured concrete, and bricks in key locations. Importantly, these materials are long lasting and easy to maintain.
All of the home designs were developed with reference to Hobsonville Point’s Design Guide, and all proposals were reviewed and approved by a Design Review Panel.
