Cowper Forster House
Adding modern functionality was Construkt’s brief for this 1930s English Cottage-style house. They achieved this by opening up the top two storeys at the rear. Two decks, a rebuilt, more open floor plan, and extensive windows all now make the most of extensive views over the Orakei Basin and the Auckland City skyline. Two new garage spaces were tucked below the sightline of the decks, and a gable-roofed stair tower was added to connect all three levels – including the garages – and to provide continuity of style between the original house frontage and the modern additions. The end result made only subtle changes to the home’s street-front character, while dramatically extending lifestyle options for the owners.
