Bayswater Marina Residential Development
  • Project Masterplanning
  • Status Concept
  • Location Bayswater, North Shore
Construkt is engaged for the architectural and urban design components to the Bayswater Marina residential development on Auckland’s North Shore, and the master planning phase is well underway.

Just 17% of the 3.4ha waterfront site, which has beautiful views south and west across the Waitemata harbour to the city and Harbour Bridge, will be built on. Approximately 2.4ha of the site, including the existing marina, hardstands, public boat ramp and ferry terminal, is designated for public space.

The medium-intensity development of approximately 120 dwellings will primarily be town house-type houses and include a few apartments. Heights will be capped at 12 metres.

The marina will retain its present functionality and car parking. New public space will likely include cafés, retail outlets, parks, children’s playgrounds, a waterfront boardwalk and a new beach.

“Bayswater Marina owner Simon Herbert says: “Our desire is to transform Bayswater Marina into a space that all Aucklanders can access and enjoy – a world-class transit oriented design which will epitomise the Council’s vision to create the World’s Most Liveable City. Construkt, with its master planning and urban development expertise, is well placed to help us realise our vision for this project; the team has developed some outstanding concepts already.”

The Bayswater Marina development aligns with the proposed Auckland Unitary Plan, which aims to provide quality urban design, a variety of housing options, and more opportunities for people to live near transport nodes, including ferry services.

Construkt Principal Madushin Amarasekera says: “Bayswater Marina is a perfect example of the development potential presented by a site close to public transport nodes, and the role they can play in helping Auckland to realise its vision of becoming the world’s most liveable city. We are excited to be involved with such a pivotal Auckland project.”

The inclusion of residential development on the site will improve public access and elevate the quality of the public spaces. It offers a sought-after lifestyle and an attractive public area by the water.
