Construkt Architects developed the masterplan for Long Bay on Auckland’s North Shore. The project was undertaken for Todd Property Group in collaboration with Boffa Miskell and the wider design team.

A town centre forms the focus of the neighbourhood, with connected streets and small blocks designed to support walking. Homes face the street, while ecological, heritage and recreational areas connect the neighbourhood with Long Bay Regional Park. The layout responds to natural landforms and incorporates open space for both recreation and ecological functions.

Construkt’s role extended to detailed masterplanning, with Precinct Plans covering 85% of the development area, and residential design guidelines to guide future housing.

Architectural commissions also included the sales office and café, and the Awaruku pump station. Construkt has since designed multiple terraced housing projects in the area, including Long Bay Terraces for Universal Homes.

Reflecting this success, Long Bay received a 2019 NZILA Award of Excellence, a milestone Construkt contributed to as part of the wider project team.
