Construkt worked very closely with Port Nikau Joint Venture and Reyburn & Bryant Planners during 2019 to masterplan the 67ha former city port as a new suburb of Whangārei. As part of that process 2.2ha on the waterfront was identified for a village centre.

The site adjoins the historic Tide Gauge wharf, the alignment of which forms a major axis through the development and provides a pedestrian and cycle friendly route for residents to reach the village centre, which will host a vibrant mix of harbourside restaurants, cafes, shops, offices and outdoor spaces for promenading, markets, outdoor dining and events.
