Construkt Architects provided residential masterplanning, an urban design report for resource consent, and residential design guidelines for Deacon Point, a 65-lot greenfield subdivision in Riverhead, Auckland.
Prepared for Cabra Developments, the masterplan covers an 8-hectare waterfront site on the Upper Waitematā Harbour. The subdivision layout brings together residential lots, streets, public open space and walking and cycling connections.
An esplanade strip and coastal walkway provide waterfront access for residents and the wider community, with a public park at the end of the peninsula. The central street and pedestrian links create a connection and viewshaft between the waterfront edges. The coastal trail also marks sites associated with Māori and early settler occupation.
Lots of 600–800 m² were planned for single-storey homes, with residential design guidelines setting expectations for housing quality.
