The masterplan and design guidelines for the 300-lot Anselmi Ridge residential community in Pukekohe were created by Construkt in conjunction with Oculus. Following on from this, it was a natural progression for building company Haven to ask Construkt to create the initial houses for the community. The homes were requested to be designed for families and to be in a contemporary style with a rural flavour.
The parkside homes adjacent to Anselmi Ridge Drainage Reserve presented the greatest challenge. Their position between a public street and public open space required dual frontage designs to ensure the homes engaged with both the street and the park. Both elevations were articulated with a mix of rustic elements including chunky timber pergolas, cedar cladding, and the steeply pitched rooflines.
The development has set a benchmark for quality development which creates a successful interface between residential lots and public open space. The design team applied a creative approach to the architecture and masterplanning of the site and has achieved a clear distinction of the public and private, all while recognising and reinforcing the importance of passive surveillance, activation, and presence.
