Construkt Architects developed the masterplan and prepared an urban design report for Glenbervie Park, a 6.2-hectare residential neighbourhood in Whangārei, Northland. The project was undertaken for Classic Developments.
A loop road provides a clear structure for the neighbourhood, while varied lot widths allow for different housing types. The street and lot layout considers sunlight, pedestrian movement and access to individual homes, balancing efficient land use with residential amenity.
The relationship between housing and public space is addressed through dual-frontage homes, low fencing and landscaped buffers along streets and reserves. These elements shape how homes meet the public spaces around them.
A riparian reserve along the stream edge brings together ecological, stormwater and recreational functions. Pedestrian connections are planned to link the neighbourhood with nearby schools, reserves and the Whangārei Falls walking network, making access to the surrounding landscape a central part of the design.
