Construkt Architects developed the masterplan for Kerikeri Gardens Retirement Village in the Bay of Islands, Northland. The project was undertaken for Vision Senior Living on a four-hectare site within walking distance of Kerikeri town centre.

The retirement village was planned with a central village square and shared open spaces, giving residents places to meet neighbours and spend time outdoors. These communal areas form an integral part of the neighbourhood layout, bringing opportunities for social contact into everyday village life.

Kitchen gardens, raised vegetable plots and shaded seating areas were incorporated to support gardening and outdoor activity. Seasonal planting close to homes adds interest throughout the year, while a palette of timber, stone and concrete complements the gardens and softens the formal layout.
