An existing nature trail along Milford School’s south-western boundary has become overgrown and is no longer in use. Construkt has volunteered its landscape design services to help the school bring this part of the grounds back to life.
The proposed nature trail reimagines the route as a place for outdoor learning and self-directed play. Rather than setting out one way to use each space, it brings together natural materials, planting and a series of places to pause, explore and gather. Concepts include a kōrero circle and outdoor classroom, log balancing elements, a stone river and a māra rongoā (medicinal garden).
The trail is being developed in relation to the school’s International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP). Its spaces offer opportunities for inquiry, communication, reflection, and care for the natural environment.
